Lighting solutions for Al Majarrah gallery

The Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization opened in 2008 and has more than 5,000 artifacts from the Islamic world. Objects include calligraphy, carvings, ceramics, coins, glass, manuscripts, metalwork, and scientific instruments. Al Majarrah gallery of the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization is where the museum hosts temporary exhibitions of international standing, twice a year.

The Lighting Solutions division recently replaced the conventional lighting solution in Al Majarrah gallery with a more contemporary and effective one. The dimmable ERCO track lighting system, designed for precise adjustment of the beam to suit the format of a painting was used to effectively illuminate the paintings on display.

With an intuitive framing attachment, the beam of each track-mounted spotlight is quick and easy to adjust, achieving maximum flexibility. Thanks to the compact housing, the luminaire itself recedes discreetly into the background, focussing the attention entirely on the lit effect.

With a spectrum free of IR and UV components, LED light meets all the curatorial requirements, making it ideal particularly for the illumination of the priceless art on display. This requires lighting tools with flexible, yet precise light distributions along with sustainable energy efficiency and long term cost saving capabilities.
