LV switchgear panels
Scientechnic Energy Management-LV successfully executed the contract for the supply of LV switchgear panels to Al Wasl Plaza, Parcel A at Expo 2020, Dubai. Planned to be the central amenity area and recreational zone during and after the event, the Al Wasl Plaza is the centre piece at the Expo. The central garden area, also known as Parcel G, stands to attract and amaze, enclosed within a 69 metre high and 130 metre diameter steel trellis structure, which follows an intricate design inspired by the Expo 2020 logo. The plaza is framed by five mixed-use buildings: Parcels A, B and C – that include the Grade A office shell and core building structure that are nine floors above ground level and Parcel E and F – that house four-star hotels (shell only) and are 12 floors above ground level.
The scope of work for the Parcel A building was to design, engineer, assemble and supply LV switchgear panels, inclusive of Main Distribution Boards (MDBs), Power Factor Improvement Panels (PFIP), Sub-Main Distribution Boards (SMDBs), Final Distribution Boards (DBs), Motor Control Centres (MCCs), Control Panels (CPs) and Metering Cabinets. As part of project undertaking, the team also provided a comprehensive discrimination study, which ensured proper coordination among the protection devices. Furthermore, guaranteeing efficient energy usage, multi-function PMUs were installed in all the panels to monitor loads, with the data directed to the BMS system. Meeting the sustainability requirement, Low-Smoke-Zero-Fume cables have been used for internal panel wiring for all the panels.
