Nikkon and Scientechnic hold a workshop at SEWA

The capacity building workshop on LED street lighting was held specifically for the engineers of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA).

The training took place at the SEWA Academy, which is a learning and development centre in SEWA as part of its strategy to build its employees’ capacities.

The workshop emphasised on the specific parameters that need to be considered when LEDs are used for outdoor applications. Various factors that play a role in the lighting design and intelligent street lighting control system to achieve 75% energy saving, without compromising on the lighting standards were presented during the workshop. The training enabled all the participants from SEWA to simulate streetlight design using a rendering software DIALux, supported with the plug-in of Nikkon streetlight luminaires. DIALux is the world’s leading software for planning, calculation and visualisation of indoor and outdoor lighting.

Part of the Success Group, Nikkon is one of the largest manufacturers of outdoor lighting luminaires in South East Asia with its headquarters as well as manufacturing facilities based in Malaysia, Nikkon has been designing, integrating, manufacturing and supplying outdoor industrial lighting luminaries. Its worldwide outdoor LED luminaire installations are present in the UAE, through Scientechnic, for over 20 years. The recently launched iLCS system from Nikkon enables smart IoT based street lighting control.

Certificates of participation were handed out to all participants for the successful lighting designs created as part of the workshop. The session also included a discussion on the challenges faced in the application of the system and was followed by snacks for all.
