Future of wireless technology and smart lighting design debated at the inaugural session of Light Dialogue

Scientechnic Lighting Solutions recently organised the first-of-its-kind conversational series titled ‘Light Dialogue’ that seeks to provide a creative space and promote knowledge exchange amongst the region’s lighting community.

Constant shifts in the industry have led to the convergence of distinct technologies, devices, strategies and born from these changes are new products and design ideas that increase connectivity and comfort. It was these innovations that were discussed at the inaugural session of Light Dialogue.

“The concept of Light Dialogue was born when the team expressed the need for a platform to discuss market demands, smart design, rising trends and ever growing lighting requirements of the MENA region. As emerging technologies challenge the lighting community, developers, clients and end-users to rethink their approach towards lighting, Light Dialogue fills the gap for like-minded people in the industry by facilitating knowledge sharing through dialogue”, says Easa F. Al Gurg, Scientechnic CEO.

The session was moderated by Waleed Fakousa, Managing Director at the Lighting Institute, and the panel witnessed distinguished names in the industry such as Patricia Lopez Yanes, Lighting Design Director at Emaar, Ahmed Saliem, Projects Director at Nulty + and Ezzat Baroudi, Technical Manager at Erco.

The interactive discussion included debate on the need to integrate good controls into lighting design, factors that go into the making of smart design, wireless control of luminaires with Casambi, future of lighting in the region and use of Bluetooth technology in large-scale projects. The event was attended by lighting experts and professionals from various sectors of the business.

The Lighting Solutions division was established in 1974 and for over four decades has worked closely with prominent designers, developers and architects on several iconic landmarks including the Dubai Water Canal, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, City Walk, Jameel Arts Centre, Emirates Palace Hotel and Burj Al Arab, to name a few.
