How long have you been at Scientechnic?
I have been working at Scientechnic for 22 years.
A day in the life of a lighting professional….
I start my day with an informal team meeting on the ongoing projects and schedule for the day, after which I have my meetings. I ensure that a sales member is part of my meetings, since I believe that mentoring new sales professionals and exposing them to the market will help them gain experience, which will in turn benefit the business.
What is the greatest challenge you have had to overcome in your career?
The greatest challenge I faced was in 2008, when my predecessor resigned. His resignation coincided with the resignation of two members from the Abu Dhabi sales team in the same week. I singlehandedly managed operations in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. I received able support from the Abu Dhabi coordinator and the team in Dubai as well. This challenge taught me to be prepared for the unexpected and the importance of being organized and calm, regardless of the circumstances.
What keeps me motivated at work…
As a lighting professional my main aim is to deliver the successful completion of a project. Every successful project encourages and motivates me to set the standards even higher for the next project.
What do you think sets you apart from other lighting professionals?
I think the one factor that sets me apart is that I usually keep in touch with clients as well as competitors. Previous clients usually return for future projects which helps the business. It is important to maintain that relationship even after the project is completed. I prefer keeping in touch with competitors too, in a healthy professional manner as all of us compete within the same industry.
What is the most important innovation you have witnessed in lighting technology so far?
According to me the most important innovation is the introduction of LED lights. This has had a huge impact on the business by replacing traditional sources of lighting and has brought in many new players in the industry.
What has been the most rewarding part of your job at Scientechnic?
We have witnessed a tremendous change in the UAE with numerous landmark projects planned and developed already. I feel honored to have played a small part in this development through Scientechnic.
Is there any new trend in lighting that you are excited about?
We will witness an increasing demand for solar power for lighting along with LED lights in the Middle East in the near future, and I am excited about the positive changes that will bring to the industry.
