Wahat Al Karama is a permanent tribute to UAE’s brave soldiers and other Emiratis who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the Nation.  The Wahat Al Karama Visitor Centre offers a dynamic and engaging collection of exhibits meant to enhance and illuminate the experience of the Memorial itself.

Scientechnic was responsible for lighting up the Wahat Al Karama Visitor Centre. Lighting design plays a crucial role when it comes to creating an active environment, with a high level of contrast for placing the artefacts. Visual warm lines of light inside the ceiling coves are interesting since they draw upon the angles and shapes of the architecture. Soft accent lighting under the artefact cases are used to anchor scenic elements visually and also to let the lights lead the way. Colour is used to wash walls and up light ceiling elements so that the environment adjusts dynamically with video content, creating a more immersive experience. The overall aesthetic is elegant and enticing.

The scope of work included the complete supply and installation of the lighting fixtures. The areas covered were the lobby, galleries 1, 2 and 3 and the retail area. Solutions from ERCO and others were used in this project. Wall grazing fixtures were installed to highlight the Welcome statement and Wahat Al Karama logo at the front desk of the lobby and the walls of the galleries.  Lights were installed on the ceiling to highlight the exhibits and were also mounted into the show floor and coves to further highlight the walls.

The complete controls, including testing and commissioning, was also done by Scientechnic.
