Growing with Scientechnic

General Manager, Easa F. Al Gurg on the foundation of Scientechnic

I recently came across an old photograph of Scientechnic - taken back in the late seventies, the humble beginnings of an office that started with just five people, this got me thinking about how much we’ve grown over the years. Today, we are in the early phases of construction of our brand new corporate office for over six hundred and fifty employees who are part of the Scientechnic workforce. In spite of challenging and competitive market conditions, we have seen consistent growth and over the past four years we have successfully managed to double our talent pool. With Expo2020 around the corner, we continue to be on the lookout for talent with the right expertise to join our dynamic and diverse team.

I frequently get asked what we are doing differently and how we manage to stay afloat when a lot of our competitors are cutting back. The fact that our Group is amongst the top five family-owned and zero-debt businesses in the UAE has a lot to do with it, this gives us the flexibility to focus on growth. We have the ability to analyze and study current trends and take immediate actions to widen our reach and cover areas within the market we feel we can excel in, all without the limitations of bureaucracy.

Over time we have invested in creating independent verticals with dedicated teams to meet changing needs of the region. This adaptability to be innovative and focused is possible because of the long-term vision we have inherited from our leadership. I believe that we are laying the foundation for an organization that will be smoothly helmed by future generations to come.

We constantly try to ensure that the diverse workforce within Scientechnic, have the capability to overcome a wide range of challenges whilst creating opportunities for the company and themselves. This is possible by retaining the right talent, which is a challenge most companies struggle with. I not only believe in investing in our biggest strength – our people, but also make sure we actually do so by actions and not only words. From fitness-based employee engagement initiatives to campaigns aimed at helping colleagues achieve the perfect work-life balance, my core team works tirelessly to ensure a positive and productive work environment. Reasons like this strengthen my belief that with a solid foundation, growth will become an automated process.
