Over 20 artists travelled from the Mawaheb studio located in Bastakiya to Scientechnic’s Sheet Metal factory in the Jebel Ali Industrial area 2, for a field trip of learning and fun.
An art studio for the determined ones from ages 16 and above, Mawaheb from Beautiful People focuses on giving artists the tools to develop their potential and create their own unique way of integrating into society. With Divisional Manager of Sheet Metal division, Ashok Muthuswami as their guide and educator, the artists were able to witness the entire sheet metal fabrication process with a sneak peek into the workings of several heavy duty machinery such as the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and the Trumpf punching machine.
The intuitive younger students were even quizzed on their learnings from the experience. Later all artists were given galvanized metal sheets to paint on with special oil-based Oasis Paints from Al Gurg Paints. The afternoon ended with lunch for everyone. This CSR initiative was a humbling experience for Scientechnic and a great opportunity to add value to the lives of the artists from Mawaheb.
