Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority first started as a private company called Sharjah Electricity and Water Resources Co., after which its ownership was transferred to Sharjah Government to be renamed as Sharjah Electricity and Water Department (SEWA).

The Industrial Stock Sales division supplied Nikkon LED street lights to SEWA.
